Children traveling alone
Your child is always in good hands with us. If you'd like your child to travel alone, we're happy to accompany children through our unaccompanied minor service. This service is mandatory for children age 5 to 11 traveling without another person age 16 or older. They'll be accompanied throughout their journey from arrival at the check-in counter until they're met by a person designated by you at their destination. You can also book this service for children under 18. If your child is under 12 and traveling within Europe, you can book our unaccompanied minor service online. Otherwise just contact SAS Customer Service
How to book
Start by searching for your trip as usual in the booking flow. When selecting the number of travelers, choose "Unaccompanied Minor" and enter how many children will be traveling alone. Then continue with the booking as normal.
If your child is flying within Norway with Widerøe (WF), please book directly at wideroe.no
How our unaccompanied minor service works
Before the flight:
Just complete and print the 3 copies of the Unaccompanied minor form to bring with you to check-in. You’ll need to check your child in at the airport, so it’s a good idea to arrive well before departure. When you arrive, just go to the check-in counter where you’ll need to show valid IDs. We’ll help your child with their baggage and accompany them from the check-in counter to the aircraft. Keep in mind you’ll need to stay at the airport until the flight has departed.
During the flight:
Your child will be welcomed on board and helped to their seat by a SAS crew member who will explain safety procedures. During the flight, the crew will attend to your child’s needs, including serving food or snacks and drinks depending on the length of the flight. Please note that on some flights, the crew may only speak English.
After landing:
Upon arrival, we’ll escort your child to the person designated by you. Please ensure that the person meeting your child is on time and has their ID.
